mungkin konsep itu masih asing di lingkungan pekerjaan ku sekarang karena kebanyakan orang lebih familiar dengan MARS (administrasi rumah sakit) atau MH (magister hukum).
Aku pun bingung juga sebenarnya menjelaskan apa yang aku pelajari dan kenapa ujung-ujungnya aku malah praktik lagi. Lalu aku teringat tentang salah satu konsep di buku pengantar Health Economics, di bagian awal bab buku tersebut, diperkenalkan soal konsep macroeconomics and microeconomics.
setelah aku refleksikan lagi, mungkin antara kedokteran dan kesehatan masyarakat juga seperti itu.
being a clinician offers me opportunities to treat patient at the individual level,
however, I am totally grateful that I can have a broader view / macro view about global health at the population level.
Moving forward, I guess what I'm trying to do is to balance between the macro and micro parts of health. Coming back to clinical practice actually makes me more grounded. Witnessing firsthand how care is being delivered to the people, yet witnessing exactly why and where the system is flawed.
I still don't know how to articulate what I want, but I believe there will be a time when I don't have to choose between being a clinician and a global health researcher.
medicine is a microhealth and public health is the macro part.
